A short film about a young male escort's struggle to maintain his relationship with the girl he truly loves, while trying to survive in Shanghai.

Sido Yao Lu (born 26 August 1985) is a Chinese writer and director. The first poem she wrote in kindergarten was published in magazine when she was six; she started writing for national literary magazines in middle school, had many proses, poems and short novels published. She studied literature in college, published a collection of her works from her six to twenty in the year of 2006. In college she was the director of ZiYan Drama Club; the one act play “Farmer and Orchard” she wrote and directed won the 2006 National Art Festival for College Students. In graduate school she published two essays in national literary criticism magazines. After graduation from Fudan University with an MA degree in Comparative Literature, she entered the School of Art in Columbia University, directing concentration. From 2011 to 2013, she wrote and directed three short films: Good Night Mr. Mouse(2011), Summer's Gone (2012), and Peony Pavilion (2014). She shot the first one in New York, and the other two in Shanghai. She also wrote and produced the short film Shanghai Love Story in 2012.

 

Producer- Emma Shan Wang

Emma Shan Wang was born and raised in Shanghai, China, where she devoured many ancient Chinese philosophy, spirituality and history books growing up. She ventured to New York City for her college education at Fordham University in 2007 and graduated with double major in Communications and Visual Arts. Inspired by her lifelong passion for independent filmmaking, she stayed in NYC and got her MFA degree in Creative Producing at Columbia University. During her time at Columbia she has produced 10 short films, working with directors from Brazil, Poland, China, Russia, Turkey, the United States, which has reinforced her desire to pursue cross-cultural collaborations and exchanges. Additionally, she has worked as producer’s assistant and development intern on feature, Someone Else, for the independent production company Parts and Labor Films based in NY. She is also a current PGA east student member.

Cinematographer- Bartosz Nalazek

Bartosz Nalazek studied photography at the Warsaw School of Photography then cinematography at the Polish National Film School in Lodz. He was a scholar of the prestigious Budapest Cinematography Masterclass led by Vilmos Zsigmond ASC. Bartosz assisted worldwide famous cinematographer Janusz Kaminski on feature films “War Horse” and “Lincoln” both directed by Steven Spielberg then “The Judge” directed by David Dobkin. Cinematographer of numerous short fiction films, documentary films, music videos and commercials. In 2013 Bartosz debuted with two independent feature films “The Purple Onion” and “I’m Obsessed with You: But You’ve Got to Leave Me Alone” shot in San Francisco and New York. “Making a Scene” was a project he shot for New York Times Magazine directed by Janusz Kaminski including big-screen actors such as Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford, Bradley Cooper, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and others. The project brought him recognition from the International Cinematographers Guild that selected him for the Emerging Cinematographer Awards in 2014. Recently Bartosz worked as 2nd Unit DoP and Camera Operator on “Boy-choir” starring Dustin Hoffman directed by Francois Girard.

Editor- Filip Kasperaszek

Born and raised all over Poland. He has lived in a variety of places including the UK, France, Malta, the US (where he lives currently). Kasperaszek has been working as a film editor for over 7 years, and has been a member of the Polish Editors Association (PSM) for 3.

Kasperaszek graduated with honors from the Polish National Film School in Lodz, and is an MFA candidate in Directing at Columbia University. He is a recipient of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Fellowship, the Polish Audio-Visual Center Educational Grant, and scholarships from the Polish National Film School and Columbia University. During his time at Columbia, Kasperaszek has written and directed four short films, and two feature-length screenplays.

His work includes both fiction and documentary film, such as This Is Where We Live, which was a part of the 2013 SXSW Feature Competition. Currently, Kasperaszek is working on a feature-length documentary on swimming Canal La Manche.
